Another Perfect Being
…an evolving creature, sculpted from hard black granite
Artist Statement:
My friend here has evolved over the years since it introduced itself to me hidden in a piece of black granite found in the mountain.
Over the years, he’s asked me to notch his tail or give her a new eyeball. As I prepare to leave this paradise for the next, I envision Another Perfect Being finding a home where it can continue to express itself. To be an evolving being, like each and everyone of us can be when we find our connection to God, Nature, or whatever name we give the Great Spirit and live in reverence and respect for all Creation.
In this way, I envision this work being used to teach young people the magic of sculpting in stone, his evolution documented through photography and kept as a record of his life cycle from artist to artist.
